Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO and Aman Arora lay foundation stones of grid sub-stations at Sunam and Elwal

Daljeet Kaur/Sunam Udham Singh Wala/Sangrur, May 29, 2023: Punjab Power and Public Works Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO and New and Renewable Energy Minister Aman Arora jointly laid the foundation stones of 66 KV grid sub-stations at Sunam city and Elwal village. Addressing the event at Elwal, Power Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO said that both these projects would be completed by December 31, 2023 at a cost of Rs 11.24 crore. He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, they were working in a systematic manner to completely remove the shortage of power in the state and to meet the demand of the consumers, significant steps were being taken towards improving the voltage as well as increasing the quality and reliability of power supply. He said that the grid sub-station will be constructed at a cost of Rs 7.84 crore at 33 KV Power Colony Sunam city and at Elwal village, the sub-station was being constructed on one acre land at a cost of Rs 3.40 crore.
Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO said that last year, there was no shortage of electricity in the state and this year also, power supply would be improved as compared to the last year. Summarizing the performance of the Punjab government in the last 14 months, he said that within just 3 months after the formation of the Aam Aadmi Party government, the promise of providing 600 units of free electricity was fulfilled in July and at present about 90 percent of the people have access to electricity with zero bills. He said that the government has provided this facility to the people without any extra hassle or discrimination and people were taking advantage of this facility sitting at home. He said that the thermal plants of the state have coal stock available for 44 days which can be considered as a big achievement. Harbhajan Singh ETO said that the Punjab government has given more than 29000 jobs purely on merit basis, established mohalla clinics, raised the standard of education in government schools, removed illegal encroachment from government lands and adopted zero tolerance against corruption.
On this occasion, Cabinet Minister Aman Arora said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, exceptional work was being done in the state and all-round development of the state was being ensured while keeping an honest mindset. He said that works costing crores of rupees were being executed in villages, towns and cities by the Mann government to promote public interest. He said that they were committed to completely eradicate corruption from the government system and it was being ensured that the public exchequer should be used only for public welfare. Attacking the previous governments, he said that the people themselves have given befitting reply to the looters and the opponents now have no issues to speak of. Cabinet Minister Aman Arora while appreciating the initiatives of the Power Minister said that due to his hard work and effective working style, PSPCL has been transformed.
During the function, PSPCL Director Dipendra Singh Grewal honored Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO and Aman Arora.
